Unfiled Taxes

Unfiled tax returns are a serious offense in the eyes of the IRS. The IRS will not stop the collections process until all unfiled tax returns have been filed, and you have paid back all money due. If you continue to fail to file your taxes, the IRS could place a levy on your wages.

Don’t risk it; file your taxes on time.

There can be severe consequences for not filing your tax returns. Failure to file your taxes is considered a crime and refusal to file your taxes can be considered a type of tax evasion.

Although, since millions of taxpayers do fail to file every year, the IRS does not prosecute each individual. Instead, a tax evasion charge will only come much later if an individual has actively avoided the IRS’s attempts to collect. Though it is best not to risk it until this point.

In the long-term, failure to file your taxes can result in limited loan access, seizure of assets, fines up to $25,000, and/or even jail time.
